Dr. Albert Ogugua Okorogu
Dr. Okorogu has over 28 years of technical and management experience spanning Alternative/Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Transmission Management and Power Generation, Energy Economics and other related industries. He served as the pioneer Chief Executive/Director General of Imo State Power Rural Electrification Agency (I-POREA). Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President of GreenElec Corporation, a renewable energy and utility company based in Paris, France. He also served as the Executive Director of Nigeria’s Government’s Power outfit, The Niger Delta Power Holding company (NDPHC) of Nigeria Limited.
He was a key strategic coordinator who in 2013 leading to 2014, conceptualized, designed and implemented the Operation Light-up Rural Nigeria (OLRN) villages, a Sustainable Alternative Energy Rural Electrification Program of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Power, based primarily on solar technology, to provide affordable and reliable access to electricity of up to 1 megawatt (MW) per rural community with no connectivity to the national grid. As the National Coordinator of the Initiative, he managed the challenges of implementing Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency in Nigeria, from concepts to reality.
He brings both depth and breadth of leadership and technology-related experience to his role as the CEO of Cenfura Nigeria. He held progressively responsible positions in a variety of United States Defense Corporations, and is well published with many scholarly articles on Energy, wireless communications, nonlinear optics, and LASERs. He has over 15 patents awarded to his name, and is the recipient of many international honors and awards.
His extremely wide experience in the renewable energy industry, as well as the implementation of microgrids in remote areas, stands him out in perfect stead to lead Cenfura Nigeria along a successful path to bring much needed power throughout Nigeria.
